2018 Travel Roundup
While I may be a tad late for 2018 reflections, I don’t mind. I took some time to look back on my 2017 travel round up and loved the feeling of nostalgia it brought. So here is my quick round up of my 2018 travels. Where was your favorite travel destination last year?
Asheville, North Carolina - My first trip of the year happened during my senior year spring break. I’m not a party at the beach kind of gal and a group of my friends decided to rent a cabin outside of Asheville. This was a great trip and the perfect reset to finish out my senior year. You can read more about this trip here.
Copenhagen, Denmark- I’m going to try to keep my Europe trip short because I am working on individual posts for all of these spots. To keep it short- Copenhagen was magic. Tivoli Gardens, the canals and the people were all just lovely. Read more about my experience with Copenhagen here.
Berlin, Germany- Berlin is a place so rich in history. While so much of the history in Berlin is sad, it is fascinating nonetheless. I would love to go back to Berlin and spend more time learning about all the history this city has to offer. You can read more about my time in Berlin, here.
Tallinn, Estonia- Estonia was a treasure I wasn’t expecting. This little city had beautiful medieval buildings and friendly residents. We spent the day wandering the streets and shops of Tallinn. We also had some incredible food! If you have the pleasure of visiting Tallinn be sure to try the fried garlic rye bread and honey beer (pictured above.)
St. Petersburg, Russia- Russia was just amazing! While the drive into St. Petersburg was drab to say the least, the city itself was stunning. The palaces! I never pictured myself as a princess living in a castle, but Peterhof changed my mind. The meticulous work that was put into all the architecture and design was just incredible!
Helsinki, Finland- Finland was absolutely lovely! We spent the morning wandering around a farmer’s market and took a ferry over to a small island we explored. The most magical part of Finland was the desert. (Pictured above.) This cinnamon roll and croissant hybrid changed my life. I still frequently think about it. Every time I walk into a bakery I hope to stumble upon one of these gems. Have I mentioned I love desert?
Stockholm, Sweden- Mamma mia! (I hate myself for making that joke.) Sweden was a great city too. Stockholm was very modern and had a very new city vibe. We spent our day at the Vasa Museum, wandering around town and at the ABBA museum of course. I’ve listened to Dancing Queen with my mom for as long as I can remember. Going to the ABBA museum was a treat that I will remember forever!
Nashville, Tennessee- Nashville is only a quick three hour drive from Louisville, yet I had never been! This trip was less of a tourist trip and more a visit to my sweet friend Laura. Myself and a couple friends hit the road and made it to Nashville. We went out to the bars, ate southern food and shopped. I didn’t run into my idol Dolly Parton, so that was a tad disappointing. However this was a super fun trip and I can’t wait to go back!
Nassau, Bahamas - I was fortunate enough to win this trip on Ellen’s 12 Days of Giveaways during December of 2017! I took my lovely mother along and we stayed at the Baha Mar resort. I’m not much of a relax on the beach kind of girl, but this trip was the perfect little getaway with my favorite person!
