Exploring the Bluegrass | Street Scene Vintage
While I love exploring the world, Kentucky is my home. I am a born and bred Kentuckian, who is full of pride for my state (as most Kentuckians are.) The Bluegrass is a wonderful place and I started this series on my blog to show off what Kentucky has to offer.
First up in the series is a very special place for me, Street Scene Vintage. Street Scene is a quirky, local vintage shop in Lexington, Kentucky. They offer vintage clothes, accessories and home goods from the 40's-90's. Not only is this shop full of fun gifts and funky furniture, but it also was one of my very first jobs!
I have always had an affinity for old things. My parents toted me along with them to antique shows throughout my childhood and from a young age I appreciated the beauty of days past. So when Street Scene opened up a little over 10 years ago in my hometown neighborhood I was thrilled. Not only did Street Scene become one of my favorite stores, I had the privilege of working there during my senior year of high school. The owner's are two bad-ass women who inspired me in my aspirations to own a business one day. Not only are the women who own Street Scene incredible, their store is too!
If you're visiting Lexington, carve out a little time to grab a cup of coffee from Coffee Times and then wander next door to Street Scene. Take your time looking around and discovering treasures from the past. I have found so many fun pieces at Street Scene and I try to make a point of visiting every time I'm in Lexington. It is a great place to find your new favorite piece of jewelry or the perfect gift. While I worked there I always heard people getting excited when they would find something they had growing up. So, bring your friends and family along! If you're in Lexington don't miss out on this local gem!
